Hi everyone-- I have very exciting news for all of CT. The national champions from this years worlds will be coming to our state meet this Saturday December 12th!!  They will be doing an exhibition between the first and second session on Saturday at approximatly noon.  Following the exhibition the girls will be doing a question and answer session followed by an autograph session in the auditorium . They will be there during the award session for the first meet and before the second session starts. After that they will be headed to the XL center where they will have another meet and greet session at 5:30 p.m. I have attached the flyer for this and all are welcome and encouraged to attend this session at the XL center . If your girls are not in the meet but would still like to meet the girls personally this is the perfect time to do so. We want CT to  welcome these athletes and show our support for how well they did in London. Also this shows USA Gymnastics that we are excited and ready to welcome them in August for the Visa Championships.. Also lastly please don't forget to send a representative to the meeting on Dec. 5th at Shoreline. Thanks! Robin Deary Fillmore, CT state chair.

All professional members should check these minutes carefully. Among other items, event specialists are now allowed to compete and qualify for States and up. The changes in our States Rules and Policies have been made in red.  Check the Fast Facts page and the State R & P page. Congratulations to Brock Freehling who has been added to the State Committee as State Clinician. This will be a non-voting position for this year and then will become an elected position with the Spring 2010 elections.

A reminder that Athlete Registration for the 2009-2010 Competitive Year is now open. The National Office will not be mailing out forms to each gym.  You should download whatever form(s) you need and then duplicate them. You are responsible for having a new form from the parents of each gymnast on file in your office before you go to renew them online. They should be kept on file throughout the year.  You need the Athlete Registration Form ($49) for all the girls competing in the JO Program from Level 4 up.  Prep Opt girls have a choice between the full Athlete Registration or the Introductory Athlete Registration ($15) which does not include the magazines. Fees are for online registration only, additional $5 each for mail registrations.

The State Committee held their annual meeting on Tuesday, June 16.  They made some changes in our rules which will be posted when I receive the minutes of the meeting.  The calendar has been started. Look at it and see where you would like to host a meet or meets.  Send your requests to Robin - she is away until July 7 but she will honor the requests in the order received. Also the December State Meets are out to bid as SCSU can no longer hold them.  Mark the date of September 26 on your calendar for the State Open Meeting and the State Clinic.

Thank you to SC Robin Deary and all the clubs, judges, folks, etc that turned out to run a superb Level 8 Regional Meet on May 2/3.  We had enough people to handle all the various jobs - setting up and breaking down the equipment, decorating the gym, hospitality for judges and for coaches, handling sign in, selling raffle tickets for the excellent baskets (they were great money makers) keeping the back gym on track and organizing marching in and out, serving as event secretaries, timers, line judges and more things I'm probably forgetting (squad leaders!) but it was a great job!   And congratulations CT Senior Team, and CT Intermediate Team - Regional Champions!! For complete results see the the Meet Results page.

Doug Southworth is available to work as a substitute coach when one is needed.  This flyer gives details. And it will be permanently posted on the Classified Ads page.

USA Gymnastics has created a specific ruling about what information can be listed about any child in online postings. Only the athlete's name and club may be shown. These are normally posted on Regional/State or Club websites. Parents are to be made aware that postings as noted above will be allowed and they must notify the meet director via their club coach, if they do not wish to allow their child's name listed at all.  The web pages made by our ProScore program conform to this requirement so it is nothing new to be concerned about.

Please note -- mileage reimbursement has dropped to $.55 per mile as of Jan. 1, 2009 as per IRS ruling . Priscilla Hickey has made a new mileage chart based on this new fee.

As of December 1 2008 memberships will no longer be listed as pending if a Background Check is in process but not completed. See the announcement from Member Services October 2008 News.
